It's been quite a while since I last posted here (that little ditty about winter in North Carolina).  I've been busy, you see, setting up my new computer.

Ah, but no: I haven't been thus occupied for that long.  Since January?  Nope.  I "only" got the new computer around the first of September, so it can't be blamed for my silence prior to that date.

So if I proceed to tell you about the new computer (and don't worry, I will) it's by way of telling you what I've been up to, lately.

The new machine is a Mac Mini.  The previous one was an iMac.

Apple provides an (allegedly) quite easy way to transfer all of your "stuff" from your old computer to your new one ... but only if they are both Macintoshen.

Well, I qualified for that.  And yet I chose to do it the hard way.  One chunk at a time, and I have over forty such "chunks" (aka "repositories").  So I'm not done yet.

Why, you ask, am I doing it the hard way?  Seems like there are two possible answers:
  1. I'm a masochist.
  2. I expect to get a spiffier, more organized working environment as a result.
I suspect that the correct answer is: both.

I have, in fact, taken the opportunity to prune out a fair bit of old stuff that's of no use to me any more.

Is it worth the effort?  Let me put it this way: on some days, I'm more of a masochist than on others.
You may have noticed that the previous entry didn’t look like most of my others.  That’s because the last entry was created on my iPad, while most are created on a desktop computer.

I’m on the iPad now.  This is simply a test of a new method; I hope that this will look more like the “regular” ones.
